Discussions with Yahweh; RELIGION = FAITH=BELIEF=CREED=CONVICTION
“Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.” (2 Peter 1:20–21, NLT)
Verses 20–21 do not teach that it is wrong for Christians to read and interpret the Bible; the Word was given to us to be read, obeyed, and passed on to others. “Private” (v. 20) means “by itself.” No passage of Scripture is to be interpreted “by itself,” that is, apart from the rest of the Word of God or apart from the Holy Spirit who gave it. Prophecy did not come by the will of men, so it cannot be interpreted by the natural mind. The Spirit gave the Word, and the Spirit must teach us the Word (1 Cor. 2:9–16; John 14:26; 16:13–14).
“But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.” (John 14:26, NLT)
To do good for others is honorable, to live good, just and peaceful lives is also good. To know Yahweh though, does not come by religion, tradition or any of the words used to define faith, belief, conviction, etc. It is prerequisite to be aware, and clear-minded about the things that GOD reveals to us. But religious, or pious acts are not the way to deeper understanding of the ways of our FATHER in Heaven. It is true that some may find GOD through a church fellowship, pastor, preacher or another person who knows the way. It is a falsehood to claim though that any one of these or combination of these can transform a person into a spirit-filled believer, a child of the living GOD. There is only One who can do this.
It is not by chanting, bowing or covering our heads that brings understanding or fellowship with our FATHER, our creator. It is what Yahweh did through His Son, Jesus that made our freedom from death and return to Yahweh possible. It is the Holy Spirit dwelling inside of each one who is a child of GOD who teaches us and builds us into maturity for good and to the realization of the fullness of His purpose for our lives.
Without the fullness of the Holy Spirit, it is not possible to know GOD or to know our purpose in this life or our next life beyond the bounds of this earthly reality.
It is important to shake-off the human institutions of religious practice and focus on the only one who can teach and mature you in His wondrous ways.
“When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. He will bring me glory by telling you whatever he receives from me.” (John 16:13–14, NLT)
This world is full of distractions, and it is to this purpose we must be resolute to not enable distraction but to thirst for what is His purpose and plan for us today. If there is a tomorrow, He will be there with us as well; once we find HIM, we’ll never be alone, we’ll always be complete, and His peace and hedge of protection will always be around us. And so, it goes, from one day to the next. Always, watching for our FATHER, always listening intently to His word, always pleasing to HIM. Never wanting, never empty or anxious, always expecting, anticipating and full of wonder.
